Floral City, aptly named by James Henry Barrs in 1883, started out as one of the largest cities in Florida (at one time out pacing even Miami). The hearty population came about thanks to phosphate mining that was a huge industry until it moved to Bartow after WWI.
You’re going to find a lot more than flower power in Floral City, however. With the Withlacoochee River and a chain of lakes, the water-loving apes will never want to leave here. Hop on in, the water’s fine for boating, tubing, fishing and swimming. If that weren’t tempting enough, the region offers those seeking a historic residents various Victorian homes, many dating back to the 1800s. These whisper of the old time south, something the 4,000 apes here appreciate greatly.
